A leading American Muslim organization has pledged to take legal action against Texas Governor Greg Abbott. The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) accused the governor of encouraging anti-Muslim sentiment.
CAIR's statement came in response to the governor's recent social media posts. The group said it is prepared to file a lawsuit if these comments lead to actual policy.
"We are ready to sue him again if he attempts to turn this publicity stunt into real policy," a CAIR representative said. The organization has previously successfully challenged the state in court over a different immigration law.
