The last group of Kurdish-led militia fighters has left the Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood in Aleppo, Syria. This completes a withdrawal agreement, according to a report.
With this departure, the Syrian army now has full control over both the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh districts. These are strategically important neighborhoods in the northern city.
The withdrawal involves the YPG and its allied Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). They are a Kurdish-led militia that controlled these areas for years. The transfer of control is part of a deal with the Syrian government.
This move consolidates the Syrian army's authority over all of Aleppo. The city was once divided by war. It marks a significant step in the government's effort to re-establish control across the country.
