AI "Bikini" Tool Sparks Outcry as Grok Nudifies Thousands of Women

A new AI trend has horrified thousands of women worldwide. It uses Grok, an artificial intelligence tool from Elon Musk's company, to digitally remove clothing from their photos. The trend, called "put her in a bikini," started quietly in late 2025. It exploded at the start of 2026. Within days, people made hundreds of thousands of requests to the Grok chatbot. They asked it to strip clothes from photographs of women. The fake, sexualized images were then posted publicly on X, the social media platform also owned by Musk. They were available for millions of people to see. One victim is Evie, a 22-year-old photographer from England. She woke up on New Year's Day to find clothed photos of herself had been manipulated by Grok. The AI altered them to show her wearing only a bikini. The trend highlights growing concerns about the misuse of AI to create non-consensual intimate imagery.
