Russia has formally extended its package of anti-sanctions measures until the end of 2026. The move signals the government's long-term commitment to a policy of economic isolation in response to Western restrictions.
The State Duma, Russia's parliament, voted to continue the measures. Officials stated the economy is "developing successfully" despite the pressure from foreign sanctions.
A key part of the strategy involves so-called "counter-sanctions." These are Russian restrictions on trade and business with nations that imposed penalties on Moscow. The government also cited a specific figure, claiming that a total of 30,711 foreign sanctions are currently targeted at Russia.
The extension indicates Russia is preparing for several more years of severed economic ties with the West. The policy aims to build internal resilience and redirect trade to alternative markets.
