The Electoral Commission has started training officials to use advanced fingerprint scanners for an upcoming vote in Ntungamo District. This move is part of intensified preparations for the local polls. The commission is first training the operators of the Biometric Voter Verification Kits (BVVKs) and the presiding officers who will manage polling stations. These BVVK devices will check voters' identities using their fingerprints. Training for polling assistants is scheduled to begin next week. The use of biometric technology aims to ensure a more secure and credible election process by preventing duplicate voting.
