Look to the east tonight. You will see Jupiter, the solar system's largest planet, shining brighter than any star.
It will reach a peak called "opposition." This means Earth is directly between Jupiter and the sun. The alignment makes the planet appear larger and brighter in our sky.
The event comes just after January's full "Wolf Moon." That moon was very bright, but Jupiter will now be the main attraction.
You do not need special equipment. Find a clear view of the eastern sky after sunset. The brilliant, steady light you see will be Jupiter. It is an unmissable chance to see a celestial giant.
