Mali's journey at the African Cup of Nations (AFCON) is over. The team lost 1-0 to Senegal in a tense match.
But the score could have been much worse. Mali's goalkeeper, Djigui Diarra, made a series of fantastic saves. His heroics were especially crucial after Mali received a red card and had to play with only 10 men.
Diarra had already shown his skill earlier in the tournament. He was a key player in Mali's penalty shootout victory against Tunisia.
His performances are now among the most memorable highlights of AFCON 2023. Despite Mali's elimination, Diarra leaves the tournament with a greatly enhanced reputation.
