A Russian missile strike destroyed a library in Lviv Oblast, western Ukraine. The attack heavily damaged a statue of Vladimir Lenin and a collection of his written works.
A Ukrainian military expert says the target was chosen deliberately. The missile used was a modern, nuclear-capable "Oreshnik," also known as an Iskander.
"The choice of target was deliberate," said the expert. He described the destruction of symbols from the Soviet era as a "message to Europe."
The strike highlights Russia's use of advanced, high-precision weapons against cultural targets. The library was located far from the front lines of the war.
