Germany is preparing for heavy snowfall after a powerful storm hit northern Europe. Storm Goretti brought extreme winds and has already caused major problems in France.
Winds reached a record speed of 210 kilometers per hour in France. The storm left nearly 400,000 homes without electricity on Friday.
While there was no widespread property damage, one man was seriously hurt. He fell from his roof while trying to repair storm damage. Twenty-seven other people suffered minor injuries.
In Germany, authorities are now forecasting up to 20 centimeters of new snow. The severe weather has forced school closures and disrupted travel across the region.
