A two-day federal immigration operation in Charlotte, North Carolina, has led to 130 arrests. The operation, named "Operation Charlotte's Web," targeted individuals who are in the country illegally and have criminal histories.
Among those arrested was a confirmed member of the MS-13 gang. Officials also stated that 44 of the individuals taken into custody had prior criminal convictions. The operation was carried out by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
The agency stated the operation focused on enforcing immigration laws and removing individuals deemed a threat to public safety. The 130 arrests occurred within a 48-hour period.
