A Reform UK mayoral candidate has apologized for a tweet telling Labour's David Lammy to "go home."
Chris Parry, who is running to be mayor of Hampshire and Solent, said the post was "clumsily worded" and intended ironically. He did not delete the social media post.
The incident occurred as Downing Street announced new support for pubs. The government says pubs face tough conditions and are community hearts.
A package of measures will be unveiled soon. The Prime Minister's spokesperson gave no details but said most businesses will get help.
A £4.3 billion support plan will cap tax increases for business properties. The smallest properties will see increases limited to £800.
