Texas Governor Greg Abbott has officially designated two groups as terrorist organizations. The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and the Muslim Brotherhood are now banned from buying land in the state.
Governor Abbott's executive order classifies the groups as "Foreign Terrorist Organizations." This new designation prevents them from acquiring any Texas property. The order aims to counter what the governor calls "public safety threats."
The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) is a civil rights group based in the United States. It advocates for American Muslims. The governor's order, however, links CAIR to the Muslim Brotherhood, a transnational Islamist group.
This action allows state agencies to block any attempted land purchases by these organizations. The governor's office stated the move is a necessary measure for state security.
