A domestic helper has been sentenced to five months in prison for abusing an 11-month-old infant. The crime occurred in her employer's home in Happy Valley.
The 41-year-old woman, identified only as "AJB" in court, pleaded guilty. She admitted to ill-treating the baby on November 11 last year. The Eastern Court handed down the sentence on Friday.
In her defense, the helper's lawyer said she was a first-time worker from the Philippines. The lawyer stated she had difficulty adapting to her job.
