Chinese Robot Makers Dominate Global Market, Leaving Tesla Behind
A new report shows Chinese companies shipped most of the world's humanoid robots in 2025. They significantly outperformed American rivals, including Tesla. Shanghai-based AgiBot led the market. It shipped 5,168 units last year, capturing nearly 38 percent of global shipments. The data comes from research firm Omdia. Five other Chinese firms also ranked in the top ten. Hangzhou's Unitree Robotics placed second with 4,200 robots shipped. The findings highlight China's rapid advance in advanced robotics. Humanoid robots are machines built to mimic human form and movement. They are seen as key for future factories and other environments. The strong market position gives Chinese companies an advantage. They can collect more real-world data to improve their robots' artificial intelligence (AI) and performance. U.S. companies like Tesla are now followers in this emerging sector. Tesla unveiled its Optimus robot but has not achieved large-scale shipments.
