Taiwan's main opposition party and China's ruling party are finalizing plans to restart a high-level dialogue channel. The forum was suspended nearly a decade ago.
The Kuomintang (KMT) and the Chinese Communist Party are preparing to revive their cross-strait forum. According to a report in Taiwan's *China Times*, the three-day event is scheduled to begin in Beijing on January 27.
This inter-party forum is designed to facilitate direct communication between the two political groups. It aims to promote various exchanges across the Taiwan Strait.
The forum has not been held since 2016. It was suspended due to rising political tensions.
If it proceeds, the meeting will mark a significant step in renewed party-to-party engagement. The KMT historically supports closer ties with mainland China.
