The UK is accelerating talks to expand a free trade agreement with Türkiye, targeting a swift deal.
British Minister of State for Trade Policy, Chris Bryant, told Anadolu that negotiations are progressing at a rapid pace. He stated Türkiye is a top priority for a new pact.
"'Türkiye is in our short list of countries that we want to complete the expansion of our free trade agreement with as soon as we possibly can,'" Bryant said.
The current UK-Türkiye trade deal, rolled over after Brexit, is seen as outdated. An expanded agreement aims to cover modern industries like digital trade and services.
Both governments have expressed a strong mutual desire to finalize terms quickly. This push highlights the UK's strategy to deepen economic ties with key partners outside the European Union.
