President Donald Trump said he called off planned military strikes against Venezuela. He made the announcement on Friday.
The decision came after Venezuela's transitional government cooperated with the U.S. This cooperation followed the capture of former leader Nicolas Maduro last weekend. The new authorities also released a large number of political prisoners.
Trump described the halted operation as a "second wave" of attacks. The U.S. had previously been expected to take further action.
