Russia says it has used a new type of ballistic missile in the war in Ukraine for the first time. State media reported the missile, called "Oreshnik," struck a large underground natural gas storage facility.
The reported target is in Ukraine's western Lviv region. Ukraine has not confirmed this specific strike.
Separately, Ukrainian officials said four people were killed in the capital, Kyiv, overnight. They reported the city was attacked by Russian drones and missiles.
There is no immediate confirmation that the new Oreshnik missile was used in the Kyiv attack. The two events were reported independently.
A ballistic missile is a weapon that is powered and guided only in the first part of its flight. It then follows a high arc down to its target.
