NASA will bring four astronauts home early from the International Space Station after a crew member suffered an undisclosed medical issue.
The agency announced the decision on Thursday. It marks the first time in the station's history that a crew has been evacuated for health reasons.
NASA stated the affected astronaut is in a stable condition. The medical issue was not caused by an injury on the station or by the spacecraft's operations.
The crew, currently consisting of three NASA astronauts and one from the European Space Agency, will return to Earth within days. Their departure will leave three other crew members aboard the orbital laboratory.
