Syria's defense ministry declared a ceasefire in Aleppo on Friday. The move follows days of intense fighting between government troops and Kurdish-led forces.
The clashes, which began on Tuesday, killed at least 21 people. Thousands of civilians were forced to flee their homes. This marks the worst violence in Aleppo since Islamist authorities took power last year.
The Syrian army was battling the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). The SDF is a Kurdish-led alliance backed by the United States.
No further details about the ceasefire terms were immediately provided.
