At the United Nations, Türkiye has called for continued global pressure to destroy Syria’s remaining chemical weapons.
Ahmet Yildiz, Türkiye’s deputy foreign minister, stated that eliminating these weapons is a legal duty under the Chemical Weapons Convention. He also called it a critical step for regional security and a humanitarian necessity.
The appeal highlights ongoing international concern. Syria agreed to destroy its chemical arsenal in 2013, but its full completion remains in doubt.
Türkiye’s statement urges sustained support to finally remove this threat.
