Egypt, EU Push for Next Gaza Ceasefire Phase

Egypt and the European Union agree that a second phase of a Gaza ceasefire is urgently needed. Both officials stressed the immediate humanitarian priority. They emphasized getting more aid into Gaza and securing the release of hostages held by Hamas. The discussions focused on moving from the current temporary truce to a more permanent stop in fighting. This next phase is seen as critical to preventing a return to full-scale war. The EU's top diplomat is touring the Middle East to support ceasefire efforts.
