The Syrian government has accused the Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) of breaking a key agreement. Officials say this breach is causing current instability in northern regions.
In an official statement, the government reaffirmed that Kurds are "an essential and original part of the Syrian people." It described them as "full partners in the homeland," not a separate or exceptional group.
The statement also said the state has provided "protection and shelter" for displaced Kurdish citizens. This comes amid rising tensions and clashes in areas previously controlled by the SDF.
The government specifically cited a violation of the April 1st agreement. This deal, brokered earlier this year, was meant to ease tensions and define areas of control between Syrian forces and the SDF.
