The FBI has taken complete control of the investigation into the fatal shooting of a US woman by a federal immigration officer. The move has cut off Minnesota's state investigators from all evidence.
Renee Nicole Good was shot and killed by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent in Minneapolis. The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) had been assisting in the case.
On Thursday, the BCA stated that federal officials reversed their decision. The FBI will now "solely" lead the probe. The BCA said its access to case materials, witnesses, and evidence was revoked.
The state agency said it had to "reluctantly" withdraw from the investigation. Minneapolis remains tense, with several protests planned following the shooting.
