A murder trial for a former Uvalde school police officer has been thrown into confusion. The case is about the 2022 Robb Elementary School shooting.
Lawyers for the accused officer, Pete Arredondo, made a serious accusation in court. They said prosecutors hid important information. This information was a note from a former teacher.
The teacher's note described the police response as chaotic. It said officers waited for a supervisor before entering the classroom. Arredondo's lawyers said they should have seen this note earlier.
The judge agreed that prosecutors made a mistake by not sharing the note. However, the judge denied the defense's request to cancel the trial, called a mistrial. The trial will continue.
Arredondo is the only officer facing criminal charges for the police response. He has pleaded not guilty to charges of abandoning the children.
