US Energy Chief: US and China Can Find "Balance" in Venezuela
US Energy Secretary Chris Wright says Washington and Beijing can both have roles in Venezuela's economy. However, he insisted the United States will not allow China to gain major control over the Latin American country. Wright made the comments in an interview with Fox Business Network. He stated there is room to "balance" the roles of both nations to allow for commerce. The Secretary also discussed American oil companies. He said he expects Chevron to quickly grow its activities in Venezuela. He added that ConocoPhillips and ExxonMobil are also looking to play a constructive role in the country. "I think you will probably see some long-term..." Wright said, indicating a potential future expansion of US energy projects there.
