The U.S. House of Representatives will vote Thursday to try to overturn two of President Trump's vetoes.
The move is a direct challenge to the president. It could lead to a rare public rebuke by members of his own Republican Party.
The two bills in question previously passed Congress with strong bipartisan support. President Trump rejected them, using his executive power known as a veto. A veto override requires a two-thirds majority vote in both the House and Senate.
If successful, this would be the first time Congress has overridden a Trump veto. The outcome will test party loyalty during the final days of the current Congress.
