A U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent shot and killed a 37-year-old woman in Minneapolis on Wednesday. The local police are now leading a homicide investigation.
The woman was identified as Renee Good. She was a mother of three children.
The shooting happened during an ICE operation. Details about the operation are limited. ICE states its agents were trying to arrest a target when the incident occurred.
According to an ICE statement, the agent fired after being "confronted" by a vehicle. Good was the driver of that vehicle. She died at the scene. No ICE agents were injured.
The ICE agent involved is now on administrative leave. The Minneapolis Police Department is investigating the death as a homicide. ICE says it is fully cooperating with this local investigation.
