A major escalation in northern Syria has forced 142,000 people to flee their homes in Aleppo.
The Aleppo Central Response Committee announced the figure on Thursday. It said the displaced persons came from the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods and nearby areas.
The committee blamed the escalation on the SDF, a Kurdish-led military organization. It reported that 13,000 people were displaced on Thursday alone.
All evacuated residents have been placed in 12 temporary shelter centers. The committee is managing the emergency response to the crisis.
