Syria’s main Alevi Islamic council has condemned recent attacks on the Kurdish-majority districts of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafiyah in Aleppo. The strikes have caused civilian casualties.
In a separate act of solidarity, Druze communities in Syria’s Suwayda province held a public demonstration. They expressed support for the people affected by the attacks.
The show of unity is significant. Both the Alevi and Druze communities are distinct religious minorities within Syria. Their public statements highlight broader regional concerns over the targeting of civilian areas.
The attacks targeted neighborhoods controlled by Kurdish-led authorities. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the strikes.
