Israeli Fire Kills Girl, 11, in Gaza 'Safe Zone'
Israeli gunfire killed an 11-year-old girl in Gaza on Thursday, her uncle said. The family was inside a designated safe area. The attack adds to more than 400 reported deaths since a ceasefire halted major fighting nearly three months ago. Shells and shrapnel struck the family's home in Jabalia, northern Gaza. The girl, Hamsa Housou, was taken to Shifa Hospital but was pronounced dead. Outside the hospital mortuary, her uncle, Khamis Housou, stated the family had returned to their home on October 11. They believed it was safe after Israeli authorities designated the area as a shelter. The Israeli military has not yet commented on the incident.
