Denmark's Defense Minister, Troels Lund Poulsen, has welcomed plans for high-level talks with the United States regarding Greenland.
He described the upcoming discussions as "really good news."
The minister stated the talks will allow the two nations to communicate directly. This, he said, is better than negotiating "through the media."
The talks highlight Greenland's strategic importance in the Arctic region. Both Denmark and the US have a military presence on the vast, autonomous Danish territory.
The specific agenda for the planned discussions was not detailed in the minister's remarks.
