Saudi Arabia's ambassador to Yemen has sharply criticized the country's main separatist group. He says its recent actions have damaged efforts to resolve the long-running conflict in the country's south.
The ambassador met with a delegation from the Southern Transitional Council (STC) in Riyadh. The STC wants an independent state in southern Yemen.
In the talks, the Saudi envoy stated that the STC's unilateral measures have "harmed the southern issue." He said these moves have undermined Yemen's unity and stability.
The meeting highlights growing tensions within a fragile Saudi-led coalition. For years, this coalition has fought Houthi rebels in Yemen's north. Now, disputes with its southern allies threaten to further complicate the war.
The discussions focused on restoring a stalled peace deal. That agreement had previously created a shared government between the STC and Yemen's internationally recognized administration.
