Turkey's foreign minister has demanded that the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) end its current policies to achieve national unity in Syria. He accused the group of cooperating with Israel.
Hakan Fidan stated the SDF must "do its part" for Syria's future. He said this requires cutting its current ties.
Fidan specifically accused the SDF of aligning with Israeli policy. This accusation comes alongside reports of attacks on civilians in Syria's Aleppo region.
The SDF is a U.S.-backed alliance in Syria. Its main component is the Kurdish-led People's Protection Units (YPG). Turkey views the YPG as a terrorist group linked to insurgents inside Turkey.
The statement highlights ongoing tension in northern Syria. Turkey has launched multiple military operations against the SDF in recent years.
