Veteran lawmaker Starry Lee Wai-king is the new president of Hong Kong's Legislative Council. She won a close internal election against Ronick Chan Chun-ying by just five votes.
The final count was 47 votes for Lee and 42 for Chan. This was the first time two pro-government candidates competed for the leadership role.
One member of the 90-seat legislature was absent for the vote. Lee now replaces Andrew Leung Kwan-yuen, who did not seek another term.
