Saudi Fund Meets Syrian Government to Discuss Project Financing

Syria's Finance Minister met with the head of the Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) in Damascus on Wednesday.
Minister Mohammed Yisr Barniyeh and SFD CEO Sultan bin Abdul Rahman Al-Murshid discussed potential Saudi financing for Syrian government projects. The talks focused on a number of what Syria describes as priority development initiatives.
The high-level meeting marks a continued step in the normalization of relations between Syria and Saudi Arabia. The SFD delegation is currently on a visit to Syria.
No specific projects or funding amounts were immediately announced following the discussions.
