"Look, No Hands!" The Daring Bridge Work That Defied Death

Photographer Beezer captured a moment of breathtaking danger high above Bristol. His picture shows maintenance workers casually changing lightbulbs on the iconic Clifton Suspension Bridge with no safety gear. "I have outtakes of them all standing up – there’s no safety equipment and they’re not hanging on to anything," Beezer recalls. "They just said to me, 'Hurry up, Beez!'" Beezer's path to photography was unconventional. After failing an exam to become a gas fitter, he joined a government training course. He specialized in photography, using it to document Bristol's vibrant nightlife and his own community. For him, the camera became a tool for exploration. It allowed him to safely investigate unfamiliar worlds and learn from them. This approach led him to the bridge's edge, securing an iconic image of fearless calm.
