Police have arrested two men who allegedly walked away from an open prison in England on New Year's Day.
Matthew Armstrong, 35, a convicted murderer, and Daniel Washbourne, 40, were reported missing from HMP Leyhill in South Gloucestershire. Officials said they absconded, meaning they left without permission, between 5pm and 8pm on January 1.
Officers located and arrested Armstrong in Warwickshire and Washbourne in Bristol. Both men remain in custody.
HMP Leyhill is a Category D "open" prison. This type of facility houses inmates considered low-risk and allows them more freedom to prepare for release.
