The first flight of the year under the UK's new "one in, one out" asylum scheme has been cancelled.
Detainees scheduled for removal were told their tickets for a Wednesday morning flight to Paris were cancelled. The flight was part of a government plan to return people who entered the UK on small boats across the English Channel.
The scheme aims to send one asylum seeker back to France for each one the UK accepts from French processing centers. The government has not yet stated why this initial flight was cancelled.
