U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio says he will meet Danish officials next week. The talks will focus on Greenland.
The meeting comes after Greenland and Denmark requested urgent discussions. They are responding to threats from former U.S. President Donald Trump about taking over the Arctic territory.
Denmark has warned that any invasion or seizure of Greenland by its NATO ally would end the Western military alliance. It said such an act would destroy the post-World War II security structure.
The crisis is causing major tensions within NATO.
