Turkey Ends Duty-Free Shopping for All Foreign Online Orders

A presidential decree has abolished a key tax exemption for shoppers in Turkey who buy from foreign websites. The change takes effect in early 2026. Previously, purchases under 30 euros (about $32) from abroad were exempt from customs duties. The new rule, published in the Official Gazette, removes this exemption entirely. Starting February 6, 2026, every international online order will require a customs declaration. Buyers must also pay all applicable import taxes and fees, regardless of the item's value. This policy shift will affect all cross-border e-commerce shipments into Turkey. It aims to increase state revenue and support domestic retailers.
