A senior White House official has proposed that Greenland become part of the United States.
Stephen Miller, the deputy chief of staff for policy, made the statement following recent U.S. military activity in Venezuela. The comment was reported by CBS News correspondent Nancy Cordes.
Miller is a key architect of domestic policy. His suggestion about Greenland is not currently a formal U.S. government proposal.
Greenland is a vast, autonomous Arctic territory. It is rich in natural resources but is officially part of the Kingdom of Denmark.
