UK Technology Secretary Liz Kendall has condemned a flood of AI-generated fake images as "appalling and unacceptable." The images, created using Elon Musk's Grok AI tool, digitally remove the clothing from pictures of women and girls.
Thousands of these "deepfake" images have spread online. Kendall has called on X, the social media platform also owned by Musk, to "deal with this urgently."
She stated her support for the UK communications regulator, Ofcom, to take strong action. An expert criticized the government's response to the issue as "worryingly slow."
The incident highlights growing concerns over the misuse of artificial intelligence to create harmful content.
