Construction work for a new wind farm in Suffolk, England, has led to a major archaeological discovery. Workers unearthed the remains of a previously unknown Anglo-Saxon village.
The site contains several large longhouses, one measuring 62 feet in length. Archaeologists describe the find as an "exciting discovery."
Experts say the settlement dates to the medieval period. Historical records suggest it was suddenly abandoned in the 1300s. The reason for this abandonment remains a mystery.
The discovery was made during required archaeological surveys before construction. Development has been paused to allow for further investigation of the lost village.
