Kosovo's Foreign Minister has issued a stark warning about Serbia's regional ambitions. Donika Gervalla-Schwarz stated that Belgrade's policies now mirror the expansionist mindset of Russia.
In a direct comparison, she suggested Serbia is adopting Moscow's playbook for asserting influence in the Balkans. The minister's warning included a historical reference to rising tensions.
“It wouldn’t be the first time Serbia sets fire to Europe,” Gervalla-Schwarz said. This statement alludes to events leading to the First World War, which began in the Balkan region.
The comments highlight deepening diplomatic friction between Kosovo and Serbia. Kosovo declared independence from Serbia in 2008, but Belgrade does not recognize it as a sovereign state.
