Steve Sheetz, the former CEO who helped grow his family's single store into a massive convenience chain, has died. He was 77. Under his leadership, Sheetz Inc. expanded from its roots in Altoona, Pennsylvania, to more than 800 locations. The stores are now spread across seven states. The company is known for popularizing modern convenience stores. It helped shift the industry's focus from simple items to made-to-order food and high-tech services. Sheetz became CEO in 1995 and served as board chairman until 2022. The company remains privately owned by the Sheetz family. No cause of death was given.
