Bangladesh's Summit Group will build the country's first large-scale data center. The power and ports company is expanding into digital infrastructure.
The facility will be located at the Bangabandhu Hi-Tech City near Dhaka. It aims to serve growing local demand for data storage and cloud services.
Summit says the center will have an initial capacity of 34 megawatts. This refers to the power available to run servers and cooling systems. Construction is planned to finish within two years.
Currently, most Bangladeshi companies rely on data centers abroad. This local facility could make digital services faster and more secure for domestic users.
Summit is a major private power producer in Bangladesh. This project marks its first major investment in the technology sector.
