Scottish Labour Leader Tells UK PM: "Stay Away" From Our Election

The leader of Scottish Labour has urged UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and his ministers to avoid campaigning in Scotland. Anas Sarwar said they should "stay behind their doors" in London. Sarwar warned that Starmer's involvement could hurt the party's chances. He said the UK government's policy failures have made voters "angry, frustrated and impatient." This has made Scottish Labour the clear underdog, he said, ahead of the election for the Scottish parliament in May. Sarwar fears the vote could become a judgment on the UK government's record instead of Scottish issues. The Scottish parliament, based at Holyrood in Edinburgh, holds elections separately from the UK parliament.
