Paris FC fought hard at the Parc des Princes on Sunday. But their match against Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) still feels less like a true rivalry and more like a meeting of two very different worlds. The clubs' stadiums are only 44 meters apart. Their histories, however, are not close. PSG was actually formed from a merger with Paris FC in 1970. Paris FC left the partnership soon after. PSG grew into a global superpower, winning many trophies. Paris FC spent decades in lower divisions before finding stability in Ligue 2. Its recent takeover by the Arnault family and Red Bull signals new ambition. Before the game, a PSG fan display read "Paris c’est nous" – "Paris is us." This was a reminder of the one-sided nature of this city rivalry. For now, the two clubs remain neighbors in location only.
