Newly Released Emails Revive Scrutiny of Trump-Epstein Association
Newly released emails from the late financier Jeffrey Epstein have drawn renewed attention to his past association with former President Donald Trump. The documents, made public by Democratic lawmakers, include messages from Epstein that reference Trump.
In one email, Epstein expressed approval that Trump had remained silent on a certain matter. The message also stated that an alleged victim spent "hours" at Epstein's home while Trump was present.
A separate email contained a claim from Epstein that Trump "of course knew about the girls." Epstein further alleged that Trump asked their mutual associate, Ghislaine Maxwell, to stop. Maxwell is currently serving a prison sentence for sex trafficking.
Epstein died by suicide in a prison cell in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges. The newly public correspondence is likely to fuel further questions about the nature of his relationship with the former president.
